Dear Parents and Guardians,
I apologize for the lack of newsletters in the month of January. All these days off and such got me all off schedule. I will be better in the month of February... fingers crossed.
Student Teacher: We are fortunate this quarter and next quarter to have a student teacher working with our class. Her name is Cynthia Mills (no relation to the substitute at the school Cynthia Mills). She is from National Louis University and is working towards her MAT.
Field Trip: Our class will be going on a field trip on Friday, February 14, 2014. We will be going to 826 CHI which is a non profit writing and tutoring center. We will be taking a writing workshop and learning more about writing. We will be back before 1PM so that the students will be able to attend the Valentine's Day dance if you allow them to. We still need one or two chaperones. The cost of the trip is $6. Money and permission slips are due on February 11.
Valentine's Day: I will be allowing the students to pass out valentines on Valentine's Day (February 14). I will be sending home a list of all the students' names. Since there is an option of your student attending the dance, we are not going to have a party. If your child decides not to attend the dance, we will be watching a movie in the classroom so there is no disadvantage for not going to the dance.
Science Fair: The science fair for the lower grades (K-5) is on Wednesday, February 5, 2014. We have been working on the projects in small groups in our classroom. You might have seen your student doing some typing or research at home the past few weeks but with all the days off and such, I decided to just do the projects in the classroom and give the parents a break. (thanks Ms. Snyder. hee hee)
Report Cards: Report cards went home last Wednesday. If you did not receive your child's report card, please let me know. I did put them in everyone's hands on Wednesday. A signed report card is due tomorrow. I have been handing them back to the students to keep after I see a signature. You will get them back. Or just respond back to this email and say that you received it.
That is all for now. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at [email protected]
Thanks!
Ann Snyder
